Hosta 'Curly Fries'
HOSTA OF THE YEAR 2016
Hosta 'Curly Fries' features very wavy, narrow, super thick leaves that give a "spidery" appearance. Bob adds "the agave-looking leaves are stiff as a board and you can see that our award winning ‘Curly Fries’ is the most unique hosta to be introduced in some time". It is recommended that to get a very special effect this new beauty should be grown in half a day of sun where its foliage will fade to near white. To add even further interest the 24" tall scape is deep purple, topped with lavender flowers. (Solberg 2008)
Each year the American Hosta Growers Association selects 'the best of the best', and honors one variety as "Hosta of the Year". These special selections are acknowledged for being unique, easy to grow and loved by many. These plants are usually the cornerstones of most hosta collector's gardens making these selections a good choice for beginning collectors and gardeners alike.
DESIGNER HOSTA: This variety joins a select few other hostas in the exclusive "Designer" category. This plant has distinctive garden presence and exemplary landscape performance. The foliage is of good substance and demonstrates superior resistance to garden pests. This plant grows well in all parts of the country. A premium plant that looks great all season long!
This hosta is a winner of the prestigious "Popularity Poll" from the American Hosta Society. This variety has been named one of the very favorites of all hostas by the majority of the AHS members in an annual poll. Basically, this plant is "loved by all". An excellent choice for your garden.
