Ziarek (NR). Small [11" tall x 18" wide ~ probably larger].
Hosta 'Oreo Cream'. Also known as 'Oreo Creme' and 'Oreo Cookies'. Wavy and curly leaves of thick substance measure 4.5" long by 4.5" wide. Wide dark green margins and bright white centers. A sport of 'Whirlwind'.
We obtained our stock of this plant several years ago from tissue culture. Back then not much was documented about this plant, including its ultimate size. From the information we had at the time, we listed this plant as a mini. Now (2010) we have upgraded its size to small, and it may even mature to a 'large' small, bordering on medium. We have based our conclusions on several factors, including Mark Zilis' description in the new "Hostapedia", as well as customer feedback, and our own experiences with the plant here in our nursery. It is also apparent that the plant's extreme waviness and unique form take several growing seasons to fully develop, as is the case for many hostas from tissue culture. In any case it is an interesting plant of good substance and character, worthy of space in your shady garden.
PLANT SIZE: This hosta is shipped well rooted and growing in a deep 3" pot.
All plants are dropping leaves as the season ends. Most plants are shipped without foliage.
