Full sun. [20" tall].
USDA Hardiness Zones 3-9. Blooms early summer.
Papaver orientalis. Oriental poppy 'Allegro' is a wonderfully compact variety with a strong stem. It features very large, scarlet-red, silky, crepe-like flower petals.
As with most oriental papaver this variety often goes dormant after blooming. The leaves begin to reappear in fall and/or spring. This plant is resistant to deer and rabbits. They do attract hummingbirds. Once established we find them very easy to grow. They have been called one of the "showiest perennials" and we have to agree.
Due to a recent frost most plants are shipped partially to fully trimmed.
(but Heuchera still look really good!)
All plants are going dormant.
