YOUR SEARCH HAS TAKEN YOU TO OUR "PLANT LIBRARY" WHERE WE MAINTAIN INFORMATION ON PLANTS THAT WE NO LONGER OFFER. PLEASE CLICK ON A CATEGORY TO THE LEFT OF THE SCREEN FOR CURRENT PLANT AVAILABILITY. [we maintain this information as a courtesy to our customers who have purchased this plant in the past]

Full sun. [20" tall]. USDA Hardiness Zones 3-9. Blooms early summer.

Papaver orientalis. Oriental poppy 'Allegro' is a wonderfully compact variety with a strong stem. It features very large, scarlet-red, silky, crepe-like flower petals.

As with most oriental papaver this variety often goes dormant after blooming. The leaves begin to reappear in fall and/or spring. This plant is resistant to deer and rabbits. They do attract hummingbirds. Once established we find them very easy to grow. They have been called one of the "showiest perennials" and we have to agree.

This time of the year these plants are shipped dormant and fully trimmed:

Astilbe, Hibiscus, Phlox, Sedum.

(others are going dormant and may be shipped trimmed)

*Orders ship free but do incur a $4.99 handling fee. Orders to the west coast incur added fees.
