Hosta 'Rainforest Sunrise'

HOSTA OF THE YEAR 2013

Hosta 'Rainforest Sunrise' is an exciting sport of 'Maui Buttercups'. The lightly cupped, corrugated, thick and glossy leaves emerge light green but waste no time in developing their radiant gold centers and dark green margins. The flower scapes are chartreuse and display green seed pods. A nice, colorful selection that is slug resistant. A strong grower that looks great all summer long and well into autumn. (Anderson 2003)

Each year the American Hosta Growers Association selects 'the best of the best', and honors one variety as "Hosta of the Year". These special selections are acknowledged for being unique, easy to grow and loved by many. These plants are usually the cornerstones of most hosta collector's gardens making these selections a good choice for beginning collectors and gardeners alike.

DESIGNER HOSTA: This variety joins a select few other hostas in the exclusive "Designer" category. This plant has distinctive garden presence and exemplary landscape performance. The foliage is of good substance and demonstrates superior resistance to garden pests. This plant grows well in all parts of the country. A premium plant that looks great all season long!

This hosta is a winner of the prestigious "Popularity Poll" from the American Hosta Society. This variety has been named one of the very favorites of all hostas by the majority of the AHS members in an annual poll. Basically, this plant is "loved by all". An excellent choice for your garden.
