Hosta 'Victory'

*** Prior experience with hostas is helpful with this size ***

A mature specimen of the giant Hosta 'Victory' is a triumphant accomplishment and commands attention in the landscape. Be sure to start this one early to give it plenty of time to mature. Though it has a good growth rate, like most giant hostas it takes some years to develop the huge leaves and distinctive variegation that makes it so special.

Shiny green leaves of good substance display yellow margins which lighten to pale yellow. The foliage is somewhat upright early in the season, forming a broad spreading mound as the season progresses. Light lavender flowers appear on very long, sideways arching scapes in early to midsummer. A sport of H. nigrescens 'Elatior'. (Zilis, 2003)

Each year the American Hosta Growers Association selects 'the best of the best', and honors one variety as "Hosta of the Year". These special selections are acknowledged for being unique, easy to grow and loved by many. These plants are usually the cornerstones of most hosta collector's gardens making these selections a good choice for beginning collectors and gardeners alike.

DESIGNER HOSTA: This variety joins a select few other hostas in the exclusive "Designer" category. This plant has distinctive garden presence and exemplary landscape performance. The foliage is of good substance and demonstrates superior resistance to garden pests. This plant grows well in all parts of the country. A premium plant that looks great all season long!

This hosta is a winner of the prestigious "Popularity Poll" from the American Hosta Society. This variety has been named one of the very favorites of all hostas by the majority of the AHS members in an annual poll. Basically, this plant is "loved by all". An excellent choice for your garden.
