WHOLESALE HOSTA LINER
general information

For those of you with experience we offer starter hostas. This is a very small young starter plant shipped as an un-potted liner. This tissue-cultured plant, sometimes referred to as a "plug", was grown in a 812 cell tray (96 plants per 10"x20" tray). Total length of each plant is usually 3-5" including foliage and roots. You can expect 1-3 very small leaves and a small set of tender roots. These hostas need some extra care and they are not recommended for beginners. These plants need to be planted immediately upon arrival. THIS SIZE IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR GARDEN BEGINNERS!

These plants need to be "bulked up" before fall therefore we only ship these starter plants in April, May and June. (orders placed July through March will be shipped in April)

Growing instructions are included with all orders. Here are some of the important points for growing these young tender hosta starters...

• Liners should be grown in containers for several months before being planted into the ground.

• Use a well drained, bark based, soilless mix.

• A constant liquid feed of 20-10-20 at 50ppm nitrogen is recommended.

• Maintain a soil PH of 6.0-6.5.
