Dicentra 'Burning Hearts'
Bleeding Heart
Dicentra 'Burning Hearts' is a spectacular addition to the bleeding heart family. Also known as the Fernleaf Bleeding Heart, this little beauty features rich rose-red flowers, the "reddest" in the family. (We wonder if this red-head originated in Ireland...) A non-stop bloomer with finely etched blue-grey foliage that stays fresh all season, provided the plant is watered during dry spells. This award winner looks and grows great in containers. PP#20757.
Bleeding Hearts are super companions to your other shade loving/tolerant plants like hostas, ferns, astilbe and brunnera. They grow best in moist, well draining soil. Keep plants moist to enjoy flowers all season long. Part sun is ideal but they will tolerate a sunnier or shadier location. Most varieties will grow just about anywhere in the continental U.S. Dicentra attract hummingbirds. Deer generally do not find them tasty. They are classic native perennials that are full of charm, grace and beauty.
