Description
Heuchera 'Obsidian'
A STANDARD FOR ALL GARDENS...
Another superior introduction from Terra Nova. Coral Bells 'Obsidian' features deep purple-black, glossy leaves that do not fade. Forms a compact tight mound of foliage. Grows great in containers and as edging. Smoky purple buds open up to creamy white flowers on top of purple stems. Consistently rated by gardeners as one of the top 5 favorite heuchera. Tolerant of heat and humidity, a trait that its two closest rivals 'Blackout' & 'Coco' do not have. A vigorous selection for the purple loving gardener. PP#14836.
This plant is a Heuchera villosa hybrid. The villosa species is a robust grower with an increased tolerance of high heat and humidity over other species. Most villosas produce flowers in midsummer, though they are usually grown more for their fantastic foliage. H. villosa is native to the southeastern United States. If you live in the south this plant is a great choice for your garden!
